Job Description

An Adaptive Physical Education Teacher position is available for a K-12 school in Antioch, CA, on a contract basis to cover a leave. This onsite role begins ideally the first or second week of August, with an anticipated duration through at least October.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement adaptive physical education curriculum tailored to meet the diverse needs of K-12 students
• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to create inclusive physical activities
• Assess student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly to promote physical development and participation
• Maintain detailed records on student progress, accommodations, and modifications
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment that meets all district and state physical education standards

Qualifications:

• Certified Adaptive Physical Education Teacher or valid credential in Special Education with APE authorization
• Experience working with K-12 students with diverse physical and developmental needs
• Strong knowledge of adaptive physical education strategies and individualized education program (IEP) processes
• Ability to start the assignment during the first or second week of August
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams

This temporary contract opportunity offers a chance to focus on specialized physical education and support students with unique needs during a crucial school year period. Immediate availability for the start date is preferred.
