Job Description

Environmental Campaign Assistant Director Fund for the Public Interest

Fund for the Public Interest provided pay range

This range is provided by Fund for the Public Interest. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range

$38,250.00/yr - $53,750.00/yr

Responsibilities

Were hiring and training Canvass Directors to make an impact on some of the most important problems of our time like protecting wildlife and wild places, eliminating plastic waste that is polluting our oceans, ensuring we have clean air to breathe and clean water to drink, and more. We believe that having solutions to these problems often isnt enough to solve them. To win positive change, we need to educate, engage, and mobilize people across the country. Directors and their staff work to build public support through oneonone, facetoface conversations on Americas front doorsteps, generating the kind of support that lasts longer than a news cycle and goes deeper than an online petition. This position requires exercising discretion and independent judgment in making decisions in matters of significance. We have immediate positions available as well as positions starting throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate and engage the public on campaigns like protecting wildlife and the outdoors, moving beyond singleuse plastics, and stopping electronic waste
  • Build support and fundraise for leading nonprofit groups working on these issues, including Environment America and PIRG
  • Hire, train, and manage your own team
  • Work at the most effective citizen outreach operation in the country. We have raised over $700 million for environmental and public interest organizations, run hundreds of campaigns in all 50 states, and educated and mobilized millions of people on important issues

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and who want to work hard to make lasting, positive change on important issues. Being a Canvass Director requires that you work independently, exercise good judgment and work hard to meet your offices staffing, campaign and fieldwork goals.

Training

We have an excellent training program, which starts with working in an existing canvass office to get handson training, as well as classroomstyle training on social change concepts and skills. Throughout the year, new and experienced canvass directors may participate in advanced trainings on staff management, canvassing, campaign strategy, and other skills.

Locations

We work on campaigns and in locations that we think will make the biggest difference. We are looking for Canvass Directors who are ready to go where the environment needs them and wherever they can make the biggest impact. Canvass Directors could work on campaigns almost anywhere in the country, and while location preferences are considered for placements, we require all directors to be geographically flexible. Right now we are running campaigns in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Minnesota, Texas, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and California.

Pay and Benefits

The target annual compensation for this position is $38,250-$53,750, depending on position and location. The Fund offers an excellent benefits package. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents, paid sick time (6080 hours/year depending on location), vacation time (accruing 10 days over year 1, 15 days over year 2, and 20 days over year 3 and thereafter), a commuter benefit program, a 401(k) plan with employer match, parental leave, longterm disability insurance, and may include needsbased student loan assistance. We also offer an excellent training program and opportunities for advancement.
