The Government Contracts Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of GFL's government/municipal contracts program. This includes retaining existing federal, state/provincial, and local government contracts, as well as marketing GFL's services to prospective governmental entities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist RVP/AVP and Branch management in developing market plans for their service areas
2. Ensure successful implementation, profitability, and customer satisfaction on all contracts
3. Coordinate government contract marketing efforts with disposal and acquisition strategies
4. Maintain accurate, up-to-date database reporting relating to annual revenue, profit margins, price increase percentages, etc.
5. Identify contract expiration dates and work with regional and branch management to develop retention strategies
6. Assist with cost analysis, negotiations with government officials, and development of contract language and public presentations
7. Maintain government contracts prospect and privatization lists
8. Work closely with mergers and acquisitions team to identify potential acquisitions tied to current and prospective government contract customers
9. Manage logistics of annual governmental conferences to maximize company participation and exposure
10. Provide weekly and monthly updates to the Director of Sales and Marketing
11. Assist the landfill division and other disposal development projects as needed
12. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, ordinances, and company policies
13. Perform other duties as required or requested by management

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

• BS or BA degree
• 5+ years of experience in sales and marketing
• Prior experience in the waste industry related to government contracts
• High energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills
