Join to apply for the Loan Officer role at Astra Bank Location: Dodge City, KS Job Summary The Loan Officer is responsible for the growth and management of a loan portfolio primarily composed of Ag/Commercial loans. They develop relationships, make sound credit decisions, and manage the portfolio to provide a sound return to the bank while meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. The role represents the bank in the community through active involvement in business and agricultural networks, ensuring client satisfaction and supporting the bank’s growth objectives. Key Result Areas Manage a high level of loan portfolio credit quality by maintaining a minimum level of past dues and managing classified/non-performing credits, practicing strong underwriting and judgment at the time of loan application. Generate relationships and prospective customers to further develop the bank’s loan portfolio and opportunities base, meeting loan growth and call/referral cycle goals. Help develop and promote the Astra Brand within our communities, including community organization involvement, local event coordination, and maintaining a professional demeanor both inside and outside the bank. Duties & Responsibilities Source, develop, and underwrite new commercial and agricultural loan opportunities. Manage and service an assigned portfolio, ensuring accurate risk ratings and early identification of potential problems. Negotiate loan terms, structure financing packages, and present credits for approval. Conduct daily review, approval, and disposition of commercial/ag overdrafts within authority limits. Cross-sell bank products and identify referral opportunities to enhance customer relationships. Participate in the bank’s formal prospect calling program to drive loan and deposit growth. Provide exceptional customer service by resolving issues and maintaining regular contact with borrowers. Represent the bank through active community involvement and professional networking. Support branch operations when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, accounting, or related field (preferred). Experience: Experience in banking, lending, or finance preferred; customer service or sales experience valued for entry‑level roles. Technical Skills: Knowledge of loan products, credit evaluation, financial analysis, and banking software. Other Requirements: High ethical standards, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, occasional travel as needed.
