The Counselor provides treatment and support to assist clients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients. Roles and Responsibilities include participating in client treatment planning and continuum of care, conducting group and/or family sessions under supervision, co-facilitating assigned group or family sessions, responsible for initial and follow-up assessments, preparing individual treatment plans, ensuring timely and clear documentation, acting as a liaison between referral sources and clients, providing crisis intervention, planning for aftercare, liaising with insurance carriers, providing case management duties, evaluating client needs for referrals, providing client and family education, conducting educational workshops, serving as liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals, conducting ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services, assisting in training new clinical staff and interns, and coordinating activities of other clinical and direct client care staff. The position requires a Master's degree in social or health services field and licensure or certification for counseling in Indiana (LCSW, LSW, LMHC, LMFT).
