Salary: Starting pay: $23.42 hr.

Maine Family Planning is hiring a full-time Prevention Coordinator.

The Prevention Coordinator will provide technical assistance, professional development, curriculum resources and support to educators in schools and youth-serving, community-based organizations to implement medically accurate, age-appropriate, inclusive evidence-based programs to promote healthy sexuality and prevention of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

Qualifications Needed for Position:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

• Demonstrated experience working with youth-serving organizations or schools to implement prevention programs (minimum of 2-3 years professional experience preferred).
• Commitment to a comprehensive approach to sexuality education and teen pregnancy prevention.
• Substantial knowledge of issues related to health education and comprehensive sexuality education and/or youth prevention programming.
• Experience delivering and coordinating education and training programs to improve knowledge, attitudes, and comfort level among youth-serving professionals in providing prevention programming to youth.
• Experience and comfort in using computer programs to create and design materials, slide presentations, newsletters, etc.
• Understanding of curriculum development and assessment. Experience in working with, adapting, and developing curricula materials preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in collaborating with other youth-serving agencies and professionals to expand upon and promote prevention programming in Maine schools and communities.
• Access to an automobile and valid drivers license. The position may require considerable travel (mileage and travel expenses will be reimbursed).
• Ability to work independently from home or another off-site location. Although this position is supervised from MFPs Augusta office, the employee will be expected to work regionally.

Education and Knowledge Requirements:The following education requirements are considered essential:

• Bachelors degree in public health, social work, or health education.
