In this role, you will be a part of the Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, and Semiconductor Science & Technology Buildings team in the Chicago office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Provide senior level electrical engineering design.
  • Be able to lead, supervise and mentor Designer level staff on all of their responsibilities.
  • Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of electrical engineering for project delivery.
  • Responsible for meeting firms engineering quality levels for the discipline on assigned projects.
  • Oversees and is integral to the development of design concepts by Designers, and ensure proper application and execution.
  • Verifies designer’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
  • Mentors and encourages development of Designer level staff.
  • Responsible for applying firms risk management practices of project engineering.
  • Manages work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
  • Perform front-end loading of Electrical systems for projects.
  • Edits and develops basis of design narratives documenting project scope.
  • Apply best practices to set the proper direction of the project in SDs and DDs.
  • Leads and is an integral part of the design team to produce construction documents and specifications that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.
  • Is an integral design team member facilitating completion of project construction administration tasks including RFI and submittal review and response.
  • Meets the project objectives while minimizing erroneous efforts.
  • Encourages collaboration to seek the best solutions.
  • Writes studies and reports for Electrical systems on projects.
  • Can operate and/or have an understanding of lighting calculation and electrical power analysis software (i.e. AGI 32, SKM Power Tools and Energy Pro).
  • Executes complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
  • Contributes to revisions of company design standards and master specifications related to the Market Sector
  • Expert in specific Electrical requirements for applications within a market sector(s).
  • Evaluates Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.

What your experience looks like

  • BS Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree.
  • At least fifteen (15) plus years of related Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Experience in designing Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, and Semiconductor Science & Technology Building projects
  • Engineering knowledge and design skills in developing Lighting and Power systems, including an understanding of low voltage/signal systems.
  • Prior experience in preparing proposals and leading a team of designers.
  • Strong communication skills - written and oral;
  • Experience dealing with various clients and fostering a positive relationship with these parties.
