Job Description:

An acute care hospital in Savannah, GA is hiring experienced Registered Nurses for a 14-week contract in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU 4N). This 12-bed stepdown unit cares for patients with intermediate-level medical needs such as heart failure, sickle cell disease, and telemetry monitoring. Nurses will work in a supportive, team-oriented environment with access to resources and tools needed to deliver safe and effective care.

This role is ideal for travel nurses with a strong clinical background in PCU or telemetry looking for consistency, self-scheduling, and a collaborative care setting.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct nursing care to patients in a 12-bed PCU setting
• Monitor patients on telemetry (Spacelabs system), managed remotely
• Administer medications, including set-rate drips
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and nurse aides
• Complete electronic charting using MEDITECH 6.1
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery expectations
• Work 12-hour night shifts with alternating weekends and holiday coverage
• Participate in unit-specific orientation (one day computer training + two precepted shifts)
• Adhere to hospital protocols, safety standards, and professional nursing practices
• Work alongside support staff (1 nurse aide per 12 patients)
• Report to a charge nurse who also manages a patient assignment

Skills Required:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience (at least one completed assignment)
• Experience in step-down or PCU settings
• Proficiency with telemetry and cardiac monitoring
• Ability to manage set-rate drips (no titration required)
• Comfortable using respiratory equipment (nasal cannula, face mask, BiPAP)
• Strong communication, time management, and clinical judgment
• Familiarity with MEDITECH 6.1 (or ability to learn quickly)
• Self-directed and adaptable to a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled

Document Requirements:

• Active and unencumbered RN license (Georgia or Compact State)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Resume with detailed clinical experience
• Proof of at least one successfully completed travel assignment
• References upon request
• Skills checklist and competency assessment (if required by agency)
• Compliance documents as per onboarding protocol (immunizations, background check, etc.)
