Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager

Location: Charleston, SC

Salary Range: $140,000 – $150,000 (Based on experience)

Relocation Package: $2,000 – $5,000 (Based on family status)

Required: Highway and bridge construction experience

Preferred: 501 OSHA Certification (Not required)

Position Overview:

As an HSE Manager, you will lead the development and enforcement of safety and environmental programs across project sites. You will foster a safety-first culture by conducting inspections, delivering training, and implementing procedures aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular inspections to identify safety and environmental risks
• Develop, update, and maintain HSE policies and procedures
• Schedule and perform routine compliance inspections
• Lead safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors
• Address safety issues with clear and timely corrective actions
• Create detailed inspection reports (e.g., via iAuditor)
• Maintain digital Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Track employee exposure to hazardous substances
• Mentor and coach personnel on HSE protocols and standards
• Stay informed on industry safety trends and continuously enhance the HSE program
• Support additional safety-related initiatives as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field ( Master’s preferred )
• Minimum 15 years of experience in a construction-related HSE role
• In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and job site implementation
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with MS Office and HSE-related software
• Familiarity with heavy civil construction safety practices

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform field inspections and operate inspection equipment
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs
• Comfortable with a mix of fieldwork and administrative duties

Additional Requirements:

• Minimum age: 18
• Able to pass a drug test
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Willing to work various shifts as needed
• Reliable transportation to job site ( driver's license preferred )
• Must provide personal hand tools ( power tools not required )
• Willing to travel and stay overnight when necessary
