Senior Web Designer Location Remote :

OWC is searching for a Senior Web Designerto help in crafting and implementing creative design solutions. Our Senior Web Designer will be a creative problem solver, who plays a critical role in the success of our eCommerce team and the long-term growth of OWC.

The Senior Web Designer will enhance the user experience, drive customer engagement, and ultimately contribute to the achievement of our business goals.

Our Senior Web Designer is the visual architectof our organization, this role will help continue to lay the foundation for a fulfilling and dynamic career and provide the opportunity to shape the digital landscape, lead innovative design projects, and mentor junior designers, fostering professional growth and expertise. What Will You be Doing?

  • UI/UX Design: Creating user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience.
  • Maintaining Design Consistency: Ensuring that design elements are consistent across different pages and sections of the website.
  • Accessibility: Designing with accessibility in mind to ensure that the website is usable by people with disabilities.
  • Project Management: Managing multiple design projects, adhering to deadlines, and coordinating with team members to deliver high-quality designs on time. Working on both small and large-scale design initiatives to help best position our products with an emphasis on simplicity and usability.
  • Staying Updated: Keeping up with design trends, tools, and technologies to continually improve design skills and stay relevant. Some specifics may include typography, layout, image-handling, color, and web design.
  • Drive Interactive Design: Collaborate closely with eCommerce development teams to craft information architecture and determine user navigation and interaction with the product.
  • Best Practices: Utilize best practices for responsive grids, Material UI, SEO, and accessibility to create visual designs.
  • Uniformity: Work with the eCommerce and Creative Design teams to define and maintain UI/UX and SEO standards that ensure uniformity across OWC's web properties.
  • Create: Design visual graphics and animation with a compelling, consistent look and style across all company websites.
  • Originality: Use artistic skill and ability to produce original graphics (icons, symbols, logos, etc.). Demonstrated custom web design skills that show creativity and novelty beyond applying third-party templates.
  • Detail-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to provide detailed, comprehensive design specification documents to developer team for implementation.
  • Collaborate: Work with the creative team members to determine the conceptual and visual direction of creative deliverables. Interact with project teams (sales, marketing, creative) to understand business objectives and audience demographics. Understand and incorporate feedback from internal team and client direction.
  • Staying Current: Further education and knowledge by staying up to date on best practices, business trends, and emerging designs in the field of user experience and visual design.

What You Bring with You?

  • Experience: 7-10 years of professional website design experience with a focus on eCommerce
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in graphic design, communication design, user experience, web design and development, or equivalent
  • Passion: The right candidate will have a passion for visually compelling and conceptual branding projects.
  • Rationale: This individual will communicate design rationale verbally and visually which are backed by provided solutions.
  • Organization: Candidate must be able to balance a variety of projects while maintaining brand standards and cohesive user experiences.
  • Collaboration: Must love bringing beautiful concepts to life through design, teamwork, and constructive/collaborative feedback.
  • Visual Design: A portfolio showcasing expertise in user experience methodologies and visual design, particularly in the context of eCommerce design.
  • UI/UX Experience: A desire for solving UI/UX challenges and problems that result in simple and efficient user experiences.
  • UI/UX Tools: Strong working knowledge of UX/UI and layout tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, Zeplin, etc.
  • Basic Design Experience: Basic familiarity of CSS and HTML
  • Full Web Design Lifecycle: Demonstrated experience in engaging throughout the complete design process, encompassing user research, idea generation, prototyping and refinement, both high and low fidelity design, facilitating developer hand-off, and participating in developer iteration reviews.
  • Multitasking Ability: Capability to manage multiple product environments, user accounts, and test data.
  • Diverse Design: Experience working closely with development teams to bring responsive and mobile first designs to real-world front-end modular application interfaces.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, presentation ability, and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Teamwork: Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills; the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Drive: Self-starter mindset and the ability to take ownership of your area of expertise.
  • Dedication : Advocating for your customer base and to the end-user experience.

Compensation Structure for the Position

The compensation package for this role includes a competitive base salary range of $75,000-$100,000, supplemented by variable compensation. The amount of variable compensation will be determined based on your experience, skills, and performance.
